The Tea Palace On Westbourne Grove

Part shop part temple, the Tea Palace on Westbourne Grove displays more than 160 fine teas and infusions in serried ranks of giant purple caddies.

There is everything from Organic Darjeeling Makaibari to a morning after tea tonic.

I chose the signature blend "Afternoon at the Palace", which arrived with a tiny dish of the leaves on the side. It was the best pot of tea I have had in years.

Unfortunately the food (£13.50) was nothing like as stellar.

The finger sandwiches were fine, but the scones were heavy and the miniature patisserie sickly.

However the reviews from other customers show that this was maybe a one off. Most people have been well pleased with what they have been served with. This is a well recommended tea room.

Bespoke blends are available and there are regular tasting sessions.
