The best ladies tea goes to The Berkeley’s Pret a Por tea (get it?), with its cakes and "fancies" in the style and colours of different fashion designers, gets better season by season.
Small square sandwiches on skewers and canapes on spoons are followed by gorgeous mousses in shot glasses and then cake and biscuits.
The Christian Dior redcurrant mousse and grenadine jelly with pink spun sugar and a high heeled Dior shoe tuile was a triumph, as was the Hermes orange Kelly bag and the Alexander McQueen silver spice boot biscuit.
Waiters are happy to bring as much food as you can manage and will pack cakes and biscuits into a cardboard handbag for you to take home, which makes the price of £34 more bearable.
The summer season tea, which is now coming to an end includes bikinis, flip flops and shades.
